Glen Education Term 3 2024 Newsletter: Empowering Learning Through the Child’s Voice.
As we wrap up Term 3, we celebrate the power of the child’s voice in shaping learning experiences at Glen Education.
Our educators place significant emphasis on listening to children—hearing their thoughts, ideas, and theories about the world around them. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is displayed in all our kindergartens, reminds us how important it is for children to express their views freely. Articles 12 and 13 focus on the right of children to share their opinions and ideas, a principle that is deeply embedded in our educational approach.
Throughout Term 3, our learning environments have been alive with collaborative projects, open-ended questions, and child-led explorations. Children expressed their curiosity and creativity in many ways, from mind maps and artwork to thoughtful conversations with their educators.
Some highlights from this term include:
- Creative Inquiry Projects: Children led an exploration into the world of bees, where they created their own bees using craft materials and shared stories about their creations. These projects allowed children to express what they know and discover new ideas, fostering deeper learning.
- Play-Based Learning: Children had the opportunity to make decisions about their play, accessing a variety of resources and materials. This promoted agency and independence, giving children the freedom to direct their learning.
- Health and Wellbeing Focus: We engaged children in discussions about healthy eating and physical activity, using mealtime and active play to encourage them to explore new experiences and challenge their abilities.
At Glen Education, we value each child’s perspective and voice, and we believe these interactions spark meaningful learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
We hope you enjoy reading about the highlights of our eventful Term 3.
