Supporting Children and Families in Need: A Partnership with Family Life: Holiday Appeal
In the lead up to the festive season, Glen Education invite and encourage our community to reach out to those less fortunate, so that we can support children and families in need. We support a variety of charity organisations each year, which makes a tremendous difference in the lives of people that need a helping hand – we can’t do this without your generous support, so thank you.
As you know, Glen Education have partnered with Family Life this year, to provide professional development for families and the local community. As part of their work, Family Life also run a Christmas Appeal and Glen Education have been invited to participate.
Family Life display the donated presents in their reception area and clients (sometimes this is children and sometimes adults) are invited to make a selection for a loved one. It is for this reason that they ask that gifts are donated in a gift bag or are left unwrapped, so that people can easily select a suitable present. Food items are placed in hampers and distributed to clients who need them most.
Items that are suitable for donation to the Christmas Appeal include:
- toys, books and games, arts and crafts activities
- vouchers for an experience (e.g. zoo, bowling outing or sports lesson)
- presents for teenagers (e.g. clothing, vouchers, fashion items or toiletries)
- gifts for parents or carers
- supermarket vouchers for grocery essentials (alcohol/ tobacco excluded vouchers)
- food items for inclusion in hampers (no alcohol or perishables please)
Please help us to create treasured memories and bring hope and joy to those struggling in our local community.
We will be collecting donations up until Friday 13 December. You can drop off a donation to a participating Glen Education Kindergarten or to the Glen Education office directly. (Some Kindergartens choose to support other charities of their choice and therefore not all services will be participating. Please check with your Kindergarten). We will pass the donations collected from across Glen Education, in the week following the 13th. There will be a tree up in December that you can place your gift under.
